En el año 2001 fue publicado su disco "The Silver Cord is Severed" y la banda continuó su primera gira mundial. esta gira conquisto el mundo ya que fueron a sud africa, Europa, Estados unidos, mexico, chile, brasil y argentina. El sonido siguió siendo thrash metal y power metal. Al final del 2001 Lincoln Bowen se marchó, y la banda se dividió, lo que parecía ser el final de Mortification.
